We have been SO BLESSED to have received the support of young people of a range of ages, abilities and backgrounds as volunteer trainee coaches over the years.
Whether it’s Sports Camp, Home Ed Sports, one-day events or sports leagues, we could not have done anything without the help of our sports leaders of the future. SLQ is fully funded by Spirit in Sport – and offered completely free of charge thanks in part to grant funding from the Co-Op.
Delivered through our activities by our Spirit in Sport coaching team as a registered Sports Leaders centre, the SLQ Sports Leaders Award teaches our current and future trainee coaches (if under 14 or not quite ready to be a trainee coach yet) important life skills such as effective communication and organisation whilst learning to lead basic physical activities to younger people, their peers, older generations and within the community.
The courses involve both guided & peer-to-peer learning and supervised leadership to ensure that learners have all the skills they need to lead basic physical activities to other people.
Spirit in Sport aim to REACH THE COMMUNITY THROUGH SPORT FOR CHRIST. With this mission in mind, we believe Sports Leaders Qualifications are a perfect fit to help equip our current and future trainee coaches with a range of skills to be prepared to help deliver essential activities with Spirit in Sport and beyond!
The formally and nationally recognised leadership qualification is designed with today’s education landscape in mind, to help young people return to more consistent learning patterns after a prolonged period of turbulence, empowering them with the leadership skills they need in order to recover from disruptions or challenges and thrive in the future.
